Lynn’s Carmigniani & Matthews Garner Academic All-District Honors
Greenwood, Ind. – Lynn University’s spring academic success continued on Thursday with the announcement of swimmers Thalie Carmigniani and Rebecca Matthews being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team. The duo is now eligible for Academic All-America recognition.
Pursuing her Master of Business Administration, Matthews adds to a bevy of accolades this season, which includes: four-time first team All-America honors, Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Year, First Team All-SSC and SSC Swimmer of the Meet. At the NCAA Division II National Championship, the Montpellier, France, native successfully defended her 200 breaststroke national title, placed third in the 400 individual medley, fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. She became the first swimmer in league history to repeat as Sunshine State Conference Female Swimmer of the Meet and holds three overall SSC Records in the 100 & 200 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Carmigniani’s journey as a pillar of the swimming program continues to grow following her academic success. The Master of Business Administration with an emphasis of financial valuation and investment management student, is the first four-year All-SSC selection in school history. A three-time second team pick previously, the Tours, France, product left on top with a first team accolade. In her senior year, Carmigniani won her first SSC gold medal and earned second team All-America honors in both the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. For her career, she has accumulated six individual and two relay conference medals as well as six All-America accolades.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
